GOLD POWDERS AND FLAKES
Our Gold powders and flakes manufactured using our proprietary chemical precipitation technologies are key to many markets, and distinguish themselves through their advanced performance and unsurpassed quality.

Our Gold products range from mono-sized spherical powders, to precipitated powder/flakes mixtures suitable for thick film conductive pastes.
STABILIZED IRIDIUM
We offer a stabilized Iridium product which can be made into an ink and sprayed or screen printed onto membranes.
​
Typical uses are water treatment applications, and to also aid Oxygen evolution in PEM electrolyzers where the Iridium is used as the catalyst on the anode of the cell.
​
In order to stabilize the Iridium we introduce an additive into the metal during production which helps combat agglomeration of the catalyst over the life of the cell. This product also has low Sodium and Chlorine levels which further enhances the performance of the cell.

PLATINUM PRODUCTS
Our Platinum products manufactured using our proprietary technologies are key to many markets, and distinguish themselves through their advanced performance and unsurpassed quality.

Our Platinum products range from mono-sized spherical powders, high surface area agglomerated powders, to Platinum black, and Platinum flakes suitable for thick film conductive pastes.
​
In addition to manufacturing high purity Platinum, we offer Platinum-Ruthenium compounds used in gas sensing and hydrogen fuel cells, and Carbon supported Platinum for catalysis applications.

Platinum Ruthenium
Our customers turn our platinum ruthenium into an ink and use it as a catalyst as part of an electrochemical gas sensor for sensing toxic, and flammable gases. It can also be used in proton exchange membranes (PEM) as part of a hydrogen fuel cell to aid the breaking of covalent bonds in a H2 fuel stream.

Platinum Black
Ames Goldsmith produces a high surface area Pt black material. Our process has been demonstrated to be highly reproducible, and offers a highly porous form of platinum black.

SILVER-PALLADIUM POWDERS
Our Silver-Palladium powders manufactured using our proprietary chemical precipitation technologies are key to many markets, and distinguish themselves through their advanced performance and unsurpassed quality.

Our spherical Silver-Palladium powders are produced by either sequential co-precipitation, or alloyed through our proprietary methods.
​
Typical applications of our Silver-Palladium powders are inner electrode components inks, and hybrid thick film pastes.
RUTHENIUM HEXAAMINE
Used as an electrochemical mediator in Bio Sensing applications, Ames Goldsmith has developed in house process routes to highly pure Ruthenium (III) hexaammine trichloride (RHT). The synthetic process has been fully validated to human trials under FDA criteria. Our RHT shows excellent linear correlation to a two-dimensional regression fit for glucose concentration with amperometric response.

We are also able to offer Ruthenium Pentaamine on request.
OSMIUM
Ames Goldsmith has experience working with Osmium and have built up extensive knowledge of manufacturing a diverse range of Osmium compounds. We ship these restricted products to major manufacturing sites across the world. Ames Goldsmith is one of the only few providers of Osmium and Osmium based compounds in the world.

We offer

Osmium Tetroxide as Crystal
We can supply osmium tetroxide in a variety of quantities to suit your production needs and to help reduce your contact time with the material. We do all our glass sealing in house to provide sealed vials of Osmium tetroxide ranging from 0.1g up to 50g.

Osmium tetroxide in water
We manufacture de-ionized water solutions of OsO4 at 2 wt% or 4 wt% but can be any value up to around 6 wt% on request. Smaller volumes are supplied in glass sealed ampoules of varying volumes from 1 mL to 25 mL, whilst larger volumes from 25 mL up to 25 L are supplied in bottles.

Osmium tetroxide in tert-butanol
We also provide osmium tetroxide as a 2.5 wt% solution in stabilized tert-butanol. We currently manufacture batch sizes up to 2 Kg and ship worldwide for a diverse range of applications from biochemistry to stained glass.

Potassium Osmate, K2[OsO4(OH)2]
Owing to the low solubility of osmium tetroxide in water (around 6 wt%) it is sometimes more convenient to generate osmium tetroxide in situ. This is achieved by using potassium Osmate, K2[OsO4(OH)2]. Potassium Osmate is a convenient material to give Osmium (VIII) oxide in which the solvated anion undergoes an acid catalyzed dehydration to form OsO4 in situ.
